Kirk didn’t want to “have people talk with each other across political divides”. He wanted to push a scary, extreme right opinion into young people minds. He knew he was good at debating and taking his opponents apart, and like other rightwing folks (e.g. Peterson) he used that to spread his personal gospel. If he would have been the saint that he is now being made into, he would have brought right and left together in discussion panels and acted as a neutral moderator. To speak the truth; luckily enough he is mostly forgotten already, he was just a small note in history.
People always want to protect their business and the status quo. To achieve this, any kind of sh1t story can be added to the narrative. Debunking is a big part of climate action.
Humanity should attempt everything to slow down climate change (nothing new there). What is new, is that people are now actually suffering from increased temperatures, and that the costs are beginning to rise (leading to increased inflation). We all now notice this in our wallet, and because family members pass away sooner than they should have. Every liter of fuel that we save helps a bit, ever piece of meat that we don’t eat helps… but most of all vote for political parties that aim to protect our environment and to reduce carbon levels.
Alcohol is definitely a drug, and according to the WHO even small amounts are dangerous for your health. By his own admission the poster is well beyond manageable amounts.
If everybody starts doing that, we get into a vicious circle of more and more carbon dioxide; And on top of that, the cities will get hotter and hotter, which endangers our lives.
