Queensland parliament passed its controversial critical minerals bill on Wednesday night, which grants the executive branch of government significant powers to expedite what it deems "strategic" projects.
The government says the bill will attract investment, while critics say stronger land acquisition powers do not have enough safeguards.
The minister deems the "strategic" importance and can simply take your property without any recourse or ability to seek an independent decision. the property can be then handed to a foreigner, business.

other comments from politicians dont specify but imply that the compensation seems to be at the discretion of the minister. so you will get some money. would you or your family get compensation above "market rates". it does not seem that way. what the law does allow for is if a shopping centre or developer wants your house, they can call in a favour from their friend and you get a cheque and its no longer yours and the share price/profit of a business entity increases while you get nailed.
if you need $800k to be relocated but the developer is offering you $450k because of reasons, you will end up getting screwed because the govt will force you to take the $ they choose and you are then forced to relocate, change jobs, change schools because your new house is now 2hrs away where your purchasing power allows.
what is more telling is if the Steve Irwan wildlife reserve does not want to sell land because its trying to protect x,y,z animals the qld govt can simply take whatever they want and put Ginas mine on it or allow fracking to proceed.
