"Shakespeare's garden"? I thought scientists weren't even sure that he was a real person, instead of a pseudonym of some kind of writer's collective.

Shakespeare was certainly a real person and there is a lot of contemporary documentation to prove he existed. The debate is just about whether he personally wrote all of his plays.
