One of the unappreciated effects of the planet's electrification, as the fossil fuel age comes to an end, is the secondary innovation it will drive. Here's a case in point, or rather two.
Renewables generated electricity is already the cheapest on the planet, but it's due to halve or even quarter in cost by the 2030s. Then consumers will have a choice; cheap electric flights, or expensive ones with the old petroleum technology. The same choice they will have with cars. Some people think that environmentalists will end the fossil fuel age. They started the battle, but it's economics like this that will finish it.
