The governor is a democrat, the senate is controlled by democrats, and the house controlled by republicans. In the past 3 presidential elections, the state went Trump, Biden, Trump. In general, the urban parts are blue, the rural red. From age 13 to 20, I lived in a rural, deep red part of the state, with lots of racist rednecks around. I think it's fair to say it's a purple state.
Not everyone shared the same perspective. One user countered, "As a Michigan resident, I can tell you that none of my personal expenses have increased year over year. In fact, multiple have actually gone down."
