Someone is coming over to help me figure out the strays situation. She has a small rescue.

Please cat jesus, let me find a home for your quite fluffy followers 🙏🐱 \

EDIT!!!!

THERE IS NOW A PLAN!!!!

This lady from a small shelter is going to help me catch them and get them spayed for a discount. It's a start!!!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 15d

New 10" subwoofer is working well.

Was a bit confused why the air purifier down the hall was like 40 μg/m³ (normally it's 5). Turns out the sub is so loud it's kicking up dust half a house away lol. Can't really annoy the neighbours as there aren't any atm and won't be until Mar. next year.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

That's awesome. gotta keep running both at the same time to give the house a sub sonic clean

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d (1 reply)

Hahaha. Are the door handles vibrating?

Bottom_racer@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d

The mouse keeps falling off the desk if I'm not holding it 🙃

Debate time - acceptable temperature for t-shirt wearing?

Edit: pretend wind is minimal

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

I don't go by temp. I go by the warmth of the breeze.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

Any time. But I'm always warm so results may vary.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

With no wind and sun out you could get away with low single digits. High teens with clouds. Low 20s with a breeze

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

Too personal of a choice.

Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d

Idk but all last week and this week has been short sleeve polo weather for me. Winter is over as far as my wardrobe is concerned

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d

22

StudChud@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d

25C and up. Below that, I require at least a light jacket. Below 20C I require a hoodie/thick jumper.

This is also dependent on wind chill and direction, humidity, cloud cover, etc

Took my niece for a walk in Murundaka parklands today. We saw an echidna, a platypus, a pair of kookaburras, a mob of kangaroos and heaps of cockatoos. Such a perfect morning

Finally listening to the new Mastodon album and it sounds on par with anything they've put out in the past 15 years, and I don't mean that as a compliment. You don't want these guys to flop after what happened with Brent, but I don't know if I'll be checking this out much later, much like Hushed & Grim.

Their best recent effort was the Cold Dark Place EP. It sounded like their recent work but was good, and it had Brent's fingerprints all over it.

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d (2 replies)

Crack the Skye is my fave. Does the new one have Brett on it or nah?

useless_modern_god@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

Brent died in a motorcycle accident.

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d

No, this is the big post Brent release. Those first four albums are bangers with Crack The Skye as a highpoint. Easily in my top 5 of all time

they have to be better than store bought because these are made with real wholesome ingredients

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 15d (1 reply)

I reckon too. Wagon wheels always tasted weird to me. Like stale biscuits or shit chocolate or something. NQR.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 15d

it's not real, it's not real marshmallow, not real jam, cheap biscuits and fake chocolate, so disappointing

50 years ago they were bloody awesome delicious, they tasted real

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 15d (2 replies)

Pakidge at work. I've got to experience a rare brand new Shure SM58. Usually these things are all dinged up, covered in tape, and the grille is dented to shit. Just goes to show how hardy these things are.

They're cheap but brand new they feel nice, and they're dense MFs as well. A good presence in the hand

Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 15d (1 reply)

Your first paragraph perfectly describes the one I use lol

tombruzzo@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d

That's all of them out in the wild, but they have to start somewhere

Catfish@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 15d

Yarra has wandered off again after yesterday's brief appearance. Perhaps an AirTag or a leash is in order.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 15d (3 replies)

One of the reasons I'm studying Latin is to learn grammar and thereby be better at English.

It's interesting that my English usage is very good, I know the rules very well, I just can't name them!!

Yesterday I started studying direct objects, I had never even heard of that before, and I don't know what transitive is either.

( also godamn aphasia making me drop words 🤬 )

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 15d (2 replies)

Transitive verbs signal that the verb needs something (a direct object) to complete it before it makes sense. Funnily, in English most transitive verbs have spellings in the past tense that are sometimes the same as the regular past tense and it's easy to confuse them - ate for the verb eat, bought for the verb buy etc. eg I ate an apple, I bought an apple - both verbs are transitive. Just writing 'I ate.' is not transitive - it's the past tense of the verb 'to eat' just spelled the same as when the verb is transitive. Bit of a trap that.

Another better example - I catch a ???? or I caught a ???? - both transitive whether you are talking about trains or rabbits or the common cold.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 15d (1 reply)

Thank you. I kinda get what you mean. I will read it a few a times as it takes me a few goes to really get things.🙂

Because learning Latin is basically learning to translate I am getting better at parsing sentences 👍I will get there.

So in my latest lesson the direct objects are bread and wine and the transitive verbs are want, like, and buy ???? question

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 15d

Latin's a bit different from English. So not directly relatable. In Latin, you look at what case the direct object is in - if that is accusative, then all is well and good and the verb is transitive. HOWEVER if the direct object is in the nominative case, the transitive verb just became passive and the direct object suddenly became the new subject. It's complicated.

From your comment - straightforward transitive verbs in present and past tense.

I want bread.
I like wine.
I buy bread and wine.
I wanted bread.
I used to like wine.
I bought bread & wine.

All the bread & wine are in the accusative case. The subject is "I". You can see how the verbs change a bit according to tense in English.

Wine was bought by me - same subject (me), but a passive verb, and the wine takes the nominative case and becomes the subject of the sentence. In English there's no difference in spelling - but Latin there is.

Don't get me started on intransitive verbs or I will run screaming into the night. Next week.

Haven't been to Grain Store for ages but I remember their coffee and brunch was good

SpinMeAround@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 15d

The food was yummo and I enjoyed seeing the attention to care happening in the kitchen. Keen to try some of their non breakky food!

Ugh. Trying to find toe kick vents (as in the kind to go into the cabinet kick) as part of Catmandu will go over a floor vent. I was forced to resort to google. I wish I had not. Fuck me, is there literally one source (accord) in australia? I call bullshit.

Another beautiful day. Gonna try and enjoy it before the rains come for the rest of the week.
