Petition from 9/11 families asks NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani not to attend remembrance ceremony

Family members who lost loved ones on 9/11 have started an online petition calling for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani not to attend the 25th 9/11

Giovanni Galante, a 9/11 widower, started the petition with a woman who lost her husband on 9/11. Galante's 29-year-old wife, Grace Catherine Galante, worked on the 105th floor of the north tower.

"We felt that having Mamdani there would show a disrespect to our family members because of the people he supports," Galante said.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that thousands of 9/11 families had signed the petition. The petition was signed by thousands, including some 9/11 families. This story has also been updated to include more of Dennis McKeon's interview.

What are those people Mamdani supports? Why so vague terminology?

Gee, I wonder who these people voted for in the last presidential election. 9/11 survivors have been getting shafted by the government for decades, but somehow it only matters now, for the guy who's probably done more work for the people of NY in his short tenure than all the previous chucklefucks put together.

Real head-scratcher, this one.

Aipac really reaching with these headlines.

They'll encourage him not to attend and if he doesn't then they'll say he doesn't support 9/11 families.

$5 says that, if Mamdani were to pass on the ceremony because of this petition, 100% of the people who signed the petition would immediately start posting "Mamdani hates New Yorkers look he doesn't even support us on the anniversary of 9/11 he's a socialist weirdo and hates America" or some other shit like that. There's no winning with these wackjobs and it's pointless to even try

Doesn’t the Mayor of NYC always support the US deep state though?

Not this one. This is a first. Now if we could only get white populists to fit white districts we could get somewhere. Yet somehow, we don't have a single white left populist in the game, other than Bernie, whom doesn't count as he is old and jewish.

Something is wrong, the establishment is sabotaging white left populists in the cradle so they can't challenge them is my point. The minorities on their own can't win, and we should all know that.

The thing about national tragedies is that the nation was affected, not just some of the families that lost loved ones. It's not their memorial to gate keep. I sympathize with their loss from 25 years ago, but they can get fucked.
