Gotta figure they took a look at the budget required to make the Gargoyles not look like ass, then multiplied by the Gargoyle screen time required to make a script not be ass, and they noped out.
Disney has also been slowing down heavily on live action Disney+. Even if the budget had come back reasonable they still probably wouldn't have moved forward.
Hopefully they've got a fun story idea and we can still get an animated version.
There have been some films, even low budget ones, in recent times that have been able to make decent looking devils. I can't believe it would be that hard.

They would have likely ended up using people, adding wings, horns and mostly filming them from the knees up.

Fine by me. I still haven't worked my way through old Gargoyles, it's one of those series I nibble at, afraid to run out of.

that would be terrible, like MOANA with the rock in it. they should not have made all the mcu slop on those spinoffs from ENDGAME.
