Oooh... I know this one! By being too racist and too corrupt for a regular run-of-the-mill Conservative?

Oooh, I'm sorry, that was wrong, if anything they weren't racist and most importantly nationalist enough!

They always double down on being far-right.

I'm sure there are well-meaning conservatives out there. However, the leaked recording that allegedly is from former BC Cons caucus director Apollo Chung (Xitter source) says the quiet part that pretty much describes the aim of most right-wing populist fascism globally.

The most important thing is to get government. That's what I keep telling everybody. Once you get government, who cares? I don't care about, like, saving the province and all that sht. Saving the province is only secondary to what the main prize is, the main prize right now is to get government. Once you get government, you can do what the fck you want.

Unfortunately, the well-meaning conservatives, where they exist, blindly follow these figures into power and don't keep them in check. The right wing populist fascists do not actually care about the things they say publicly they do.

I will say that watching this political train wreck in real-time is kind of fascinating.

I used to think that, but there is so much increasing evidence to the contrary.

They moved to the liberals

The days of fiscal and mildly social conservatives are gone, it's all pure political identity politics across the board.

The BC conservatives have been and are still running wild, high on visiting rural areas and pumping up anti-everything sentiment.

They are the architects of their own destinies.
