Winning any sort of "best local food" award almost always means the price jumps immediately.

I just don't understand why they're still relevant at all.

Largely because thay are a defacto monopoly in too many areas.

Unless some viable competition emerges (or some anti-trust legislation breaks them up), they're hard to avoid.

Trump, while himself being the symptom of these systems current state, has acted as a catalyst for the march toward hateful authorianism.

He has also acted as a counterexample in a lot of places where people are waking up to the risks of going down that path towards hateful authoritarianism.

Simply moving on is extremely inadequate.

There will need to be decades of repair work done before the USA is returned to its previous level. Not to mention also fixing the systemic weaknesses that allowed someone like Trump to do the damage that has been done.

pretty sure we can expect at least some sighs of relief in many countries

Only a brief one.

We know that Trump is only the chaotic mouthpiece for a much larger and much more problematic power structure in the USA.

A power structure that has been quietly and increasingly fucking the rest of us for decades. Trump simply ripped the mask off and got loud about it.

I ain't buying bourbon, or anything else made in Trump's America.

I have a nice bottle of 12 year scotch waiting for a celebration.
