It’s a different take on the spoon theory. Basically, in D&D and games like it, you have a certain amount of spell slots per day you can use to cast spells; I believe wizards have two at first level. Cantrips are the exception, simple spells you can cast as many times as you like per day.
experienced casters know that "move one dirty dish to the kitchen while on your way to the toilet" is a cantrip, as is "put dish in sink and quickly rinse it" and "scrub soaked dish with one of those sponge-brushes that have washing-up liquid in the handle", which means you can trade casting time for spell slot efficiency.

Try becoming a warlock. Do one thing, take a short rest, then do another thing.

tbf, both of those tasks could be accomplished with prestidigitation; which is also a cantrip spell.

That's why it's called fantasy.

Thanks to certain personalities in the fediverse, I can now appreciate this joke. I feel like I've been let into a club.

But making a phone call is fucking hard. No way is that a free use spell.

I don’t think that’s what is meant. More surfing with a phone or using apps
zaphod@sopuli.xyz · 17 pts · 14d
In these modern times the phrase "use phone" to me does not imply making a phone call.

We switched to Pathfinder rules. The phone is a type of wand, and phone call is it's magic. Using it more than once a day deals massive spirit damage

I would rather make a billion phonecalls than clean my apartment ever

Spell slots are limited to a set number per day, but cantrips can be used as often as you want.

One at a time! We don't want «charm» to fail to roll favourably.

Initially i thought "using phone" meant "making a call" and thinking how tf is that a cantrip!?!? That's a level 4 spell for me.
