Ask a liberal which is worse, fascism or socialism and you might be surprised how many would say socialism is worse, if they were being honest. Not that they like fascism. Not at all, they hate it. They just hate socialism more. To them, fascism is the lesser of the two evils. And I'm not just making this up, a prominent liberal economist of the 20th century said it explicitly:

As you will understand, it is possible for a dictator to govern in a liberal way. And it is also possible for a democracy to govern with a total lack of liberalism. Personally I prefer a liberal dictator to democratic government lacking liberalism.

I did a quick google, feel free to correct me on these figures:

  • Gottheimer: at least 1.5 million from AIPAC/UDP.
  • Scholten: AIPAC funded trip to Israel in 2023, at least 400k from AIPAC/UDP and similar pro-Israel groups
  • Moskowitz: roughly a 1 million from AIPAC in 2026
  • Suozzi: 600k from pro-Israel groups, DMFI hosted him during trip to Israel in 2023

Given DSA don't want state control of the means of production, aren't actual socialists, but are in fact democratic socialists which is not the same thing.

Given the fact that supporting Israel's no longer as popular with voters, but these 4 democrats are on the payroll of pro-Israel groups.

I don't think these 4 democrats actually care that the DSA are 'socialist' or even that they're left wing. I think they care about their stance on Israel, but don't want to be honest about this being one of the most important reasons why they're against the DSA.

Gee, and here I was, thinking liberal elites invented fascism because they loved socialism so much.

I guess the joke is on me, eh?
