Tom Cruise is a weird guy, mainly because of the Scientology nonsense, but I've read about many wholesome interactions with him. He seems like genuinely decent guy, if only he wasn't part of an evil cult.
I think it's the way he's treated essentially like a demigod figure in scientology - he may have developed a sort of Jesus-complex which has been known to happen to some people who are excessively pampered and revered.
