Nature shipped the same color palette twice, and the bird version bites

One is a snack, the other is a roommate with opinions.

He wants to hang out in a mango tree with a small flock of friends wearing the same camouflage as they bite all the mangoes!

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 12 pts · 18h

Perfect camouflage. The farmer will not notice until the whole tree is empty.

Tonight on bird or mango, will our contestants have a yummy snack, or get a nibble!?

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 18h

The contestants will confidently choose the mango and spend the rest of the episode apologizing to the bird.

I dunno, mangos make really bad roommates after a few weeks

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 15 pts · 16h

After a few weeks, the mango ferments into wine, and the bird starts drinking it. Then you have two problems.

Mango? Man, go buy me some seeds!!!

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 2h

He took the order literally and flew off. The seeds are still not back.

Bird eyeing the fruit going "Uuuh, she's a big one."

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 18h (1 reply)

He is not flirting. He is calculating how many bites she is.

I believe in him

If you’re allergic to poison ivy, the fruit version bites too

My wife's throat will swell shut from mango. I don't think poison ivy affects her more than usual but we have to be very careful around anything generically "tropical" flavor.

If the bird is not called mango that would be a shame.

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 10 pts · 16h (1 reply)

Official name is now Mango-Peach. He comes with a built-in fruit salad identity.

He comes with a built-in fruit salad

Excellent selling point for any roommate

is this AI? do you have source?

tranhonganh102@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 16h (2 replies)

Fair question! I found this image on Reddit back in 2019. The person who posted it there was not the original owner either, so the true credit is lost to time. I also ran the image through an AI detector just to be safe, and it came back 0% AI. You can see the full result here. The colors are completely natural too. This is a real lovebird color mutation, so a quick Google search for "lovebird mango" will show you plenty of real ones.

then_three_more@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 16h

The age is enough to make it not AI

Of course that does rull out old school photo manipulation to adjust the colour hues to exaggerate the similarities.

Thank you! It sucks that AI is robbing my mind from precieving pictures of absolute beauty of nature like this by making me suspect if it is AI first. This bird is such majestic beauty indeed !

It looks a little smaller than a conyur? I used to have one, that bit. He was a total dick. Would land on your shoulder, sing sweet songs in your ear until you relax, then bite your neck and then run to his lair under the couch.

Our hide, and attack your ankles near the kitchen, then back to said lair. He was great otherwise. I shared my alcohol with him. He drank it all, in moderation. Gin and tonic, ale, wine.

They are known for eating a bit of fruit off tress, then throwing more fruit off the tree just because. For that reason sadly farmers in the tropics shoot them.

Yes, I realize I always spell conyur wrong.

Sounds like he was not a pet but a tiny criminal with excellent taste in drinks and a solid hit-and-run record.

Just a human with a backlog of saved photos and zero self-control.
