The east-coast states of Australia are the ones that are nominally Spanish under the Treaty of Tordesillas, as opposed to the others which are Portuguese

This explains why Brazil speaks Portuguese rather than Spanish, and also why Nando’s is better in Melbourne then in Sydney.

their globe was a crudely drawn map at the time, i get that they know it was round, and divide it by meridians,
