Why is this artificially black and white? V was a color TV show. It wasn't even a movie.

Not unusual at all to have b&w publicity stills that got handed out.

the remake series kinda missed the mark on that front. Trying to pull a Battlestar Galactica on the wrong premise

The original V mini-series was excellent and based loosely on It Can't Happen Here. The writer/creator left after that.
