Morning espresso, feat. my daughter’s rock collection

My cats wanted in on the action too.

Also, happy Labour Day to any Canadians out there. Enjoy the holiday with a lovely cup of coffee today.

Sitting outside, listening to the birds, watching my cats play with each other inside right next to the door, sipping espresso. Last night was rough, the little one kept me up the entire night, only got maybe 2 hours of broken sleep, but my wife just got home from her night shift and is playing with her for a bit so I can relax before taking over for the rest of the day. It’s 8am, 12°C, and the sun is on my face. Later today I’ll be taking her to see her grandparents and maybe do a bbq for supper. If I wasn’t so tired today would be perfect. I hope everyone else is having a good day, too.

I’m having very much the same vibe. Like one has been keeling me up at night a lit lately, and I’d kicking my butt, but life is good - and coffee or tea great!

“Life is good, coffee is great” is what I strive for every day.

If you had included some baked goods, you might've been able to post her "rock & roll" collection. :P

That’s adorable, I am absolutely stealing that in the future.

Ours just woke up so I'm firing up the DF64 for 6 seconds of terror and then I'll be on the balcony doing the same. Going back to work from parental leave tmrw so today's espresso will be extra relaxed.

How do you like the DF64? I’ve been back and forth between it and the 54. I’m still undecided.

avidamoeba@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 2d (1 reply)

It's great, I basically forget about it. Makes some mess in front of it over time if using a portafilter to grind into. That's the only negative I find with it. But I'm used to it and don't care. AFAIK the DF54 is slower but other than that, the same. Avg 18gr goes for 6s on the DF64. I would've bought a DF54 if the DF64 hadn't gone on steep sale at the time. Just get either, depending on the price. The 64 is only more interesting if you're going to be swapping burr sets.

E: Acctually there was a new even cheaper PRC flat burr grinder that looked really interesting. Don't recall the name. Was under $200.

I’ve heard of Shardor and Mokkom which both have 64mm flat burr grinders on the very cheap end but I have no idea if they’re any good. At least DF has a reputation.
