Also, I want to say "AGI is nowhere near" but then I realized that we really do already have software as vapid as these people are. I guess, to be fair, that looks like proper, true intelligence from the perspective of someone who has none of their own. :-\
I'm not quite sure what the fuss is about with this one - I thought it was quite a clever joke, and I don't really think there's anything distasteful about it. Still, the game is of no interest to me whatsoever.
"We thought having the ai voiced by ai would be cute" would have been acceptable, had they paid a voice actor to train the model. It doesn't say in the article but I'm assuming they used some off-the-shelf model, which is tantamount to theft unless the company selling it in turn paid for use of everything in their corpus.
The "take that, liberal snowflakes" framing is beyond crazy.

At least I know about a new game, but seriously we don't need to have a post about every single thing that's posted on a gaming website, because a lot of it is just filler, like this.
Yeah but given the Portal came out 20 years ago I think their decision not to use an AI generated voice was probably more to do with the lack of AI generated Voice technology than any kind of moral decision

I don't see where's the problem here. It's the only specific case where a TTS gives better results than a voice actor
I didn't see any outrage for the use of a TTS for glados in portal games
