Equality Utah’s endorsement of Republican candidates draws pushback from Democratic officials

Equality Utah is getting some pushback from local Democratic officials after it decided to endorse Republican candidates in a few races over openly LGBTQ candidates.

The endorsement that is getting the most attention is Equality Utah’s decision to endorse Republican Mike Bird for the Salt Lake County Council District 3 seat over Luke Maynes, who is a Democrat and a member of the LGBTQ community.

Instead, the PAC said that it considers their ability to “build bridges and govern effectively” and the “viability of their campaigns,” among other factors.

So they choose to back whoever they think will win. And choosing a Republican, especially in today’s world, is a wild thing to do if your goal is to “build bridges and govern effectively”. But hey, let’s endorse them, so we can take the high road, and continue to lose.

Pathetic.
