I misunderstood what was going on and I interpreted it in the worst possible way. You didn't deserve that, it was wrong of me.

I'll leave my original post up (as a lesson in fucking up to others) or delete it, whichever you prefer.

I do not subscribe to any community that posts drawings of girls with the faces of minors & the breasts of over-enhanced porn stars. Yet recently they keep appearing in my Subscribed feed.

Moreover these posts seem to have a monetization intent, with links to Ko-fi, Patreon etc.

In fact, there's even a little Join button in the corner of the post, indicating Piefed knows I haven't subscribed to this.

Yet Piefed keeps injecting these monetized posts sexually objectifying minors into my Subscribed feed.

Is this Piefed/Piefed.social's "business model" now?
Is there anyway to turn off this "feature"?

First of all, let's dispense with the conspiratorial thinking here:

The monetization links in these posts are for the artist, nothing to do with any instance/software. Also, the user making this post is on a lemmy instance, and the community it has been posted to is on a lemmy instance. Nothing about the monetization here has anything to do with piefed other than that you saw it from a piefed instance.

Are you sure you are viewing the Subscribed view on the home page? As far as I can tell, it seems to be working correctly for me and isn't showing posts from communities that I am not subscribed to.

You have a couple options for how to prevent these posts from showing up in the future in places like the All or Popular front pages:

Block the OP (there are usually just a handful of accounts that make up the vast majority of these posts)
Block the community
Hide communities with "moe" in the name (most of them have this naming structure). You can add this at your filters page just above the keyword filters.
Block the domain (most of the images are hosted at files.catbox.moe)

Yes, it's the Subcribed feed, my default. Triple-checked now.
I already blocked a couple of these communities.
None of these posts appear in my Subcribed feed on lemmy.ca.

If it's not Piefed putting these non-subscribed posts in my Subscribed feed, then what on earth is going on?

Really weird. There's a "Join" link in the bottom right of your screenshot. PieFed is definitely aware you didn't join that community.

Did you maybe (accidentally) follow that specific user? That's one way to have posts from not joined communities show up.

I have actually already blocked this user recently but i think the issue is others kinda pop up too. I have noticed a lot more of it lately and have been on a bit of a blocking spree. I don't want to have to block the sopuli.xyz instance as it seems ok, but I am noticing the rise of inappropriate anime.

I also have anime on my filter list but that relies on the word being included. Its real easy to say stop being prudish but its not in my interest range...it somewhat worries me that its so supported upon the common front pages.

I actually wish there was to ban whole generes.

I am pretty certain i have already but there's tons of others on the usually sopuli, lemmy world etc. Its quite spammy

You had ani.social blocked as a domain, which would get rid of image posts that have their image hosted on ani.social (only accounts on ani.social would do this) but it would not block posts in communities on ani.social. When someone on, say, lemmy.world posts in an ani.social community the image is hosted on lemmy.world even though the post is on ani.social...

The distinction between domain and instance is confusing, sorry about that. I'll put some thought into how to clear that up.

I've added an instance block for ani.social in your account too.

If there’s a way to just block all anime that would help. It’s just not my thing and I’d rather lose the small amount I would like than keep having to see the more suggestive content.

Those posts are appearing in your Subscribe feed because you are following the author.

To stop them, go to https://piefed.social/u/mentaledge@sopuli.xyz and click 'Unfollow'.

You need to ask yourself why you are using an instance provided by someone you distrust so much. When the first place your mind goes to is "rimu is profiting off pedo-spam", pretty much the worst possible interpretation of events, something is broken.

Following the: 1st thought: "I don't follow anyone."
Checking... oh yeah, I followed one account only, the one responsible for the Calvin & Hobbes bot, back when it went down to remember to contact in case it went down again.
Worst possible interpretation: you're absolutely right.
Something is broken, why use this instance etc: I'll be taking a break.

My apologies. I shouldn't have made any such accusation, it was completely groundless.
