Rob Sand sucks. Unfortunately, I don’t think it matters. I’ll bet Iowa goes full fascist by a 10 point margin. That state is gerrymandered and ignorant. Every chance they’ve gotten, they kill education and they pollute they environment (they’ve subsidized the poisons that get put into the water).
Is it just athletics, or is he anti trans in other ways?
Edit: I know this isn't a popular comment on communities like this, but I think the Trans community is doing itself a disservice here.
This guy could very easily agree with 99% of trans issues, but he says he doesn't support trans women playing women sports, and he's called a coward and the entire community rails against him.
This is the snake eating it's own tail. You're going to push away somebody that may very well have 99% of your best interests in mind and let somebody win that wants your kids to grow up quiet and sad because they aren't allowed to be themselves.
I don't know about this Sand guy specifically, but I've seen it elsewhere with other people and other comments. It's going to end with either Republicans winning everything, or Democrat completely abandoning the Trans community.
The problem here is that pretending theres a legitimate reason to discriminate at all is antitrans. Hormones do a lot more than people realize; ive lost 50lbs from my 300lb one-rep-max bench press since starting hormones. Sure, i imagine its similar to taking a natural steroid, but the entire point of sports is to spotlight genetic freaks

I think the problem is that you aren't recognizing other people's feelings as legitimate. Most people that feel this way are not "pretending", it's their honest beliefs. And there's A LOT more people on the left that also feel this way than you might want to believe.
These same people might support every other trans issue, but this specifically doesn't feel right to them. And you react towards those people as though they are just pretending cause they are transphobic and want to discriminate. They're cowards, screw them.
Personally, I think this issue is going to result in democrats (both politicians and voters) abandoning the Trans community. If supporting 99% of the issues is just as bad as supporting 0, then why bother.
I recognize other peoples feelings as bigoted, like many others throughout history. Its extremely normal to say x y or z bigoted thing until society catches up. You dont have to follow the herd.
Difference between then and now is you got people on your side that you're actively pushing away because they don't see things 100% your way. If you aren't 100% with me, you're a bigot. That is so utterly narrow minded.
I legitimately want what's best for this community, which is the only reason I'm even commenting. But I see posts like this, and comments like yours, and it feels hopeless.

Let me ask this, how does society normally catch up? Is it 100% all at once? Or is it a little bit here and there until eventually it's 100%? It might surprise you to learn that society takes time to catch up, and demanding people be 100% on your side or else you want nothing to do with them is self destructive.

YOU label them as bigots because it's easier for you to ignore what they're actually saying and the points they're making. It's easier to say "I'm right cause you're a bigot" than to actually have a debate with somebody.
Public polling shows the Trans community is losing ground with both parties. Not because everybody is all of a sudden a bigot, but because the Trans community won't participate in dialogue. They yell "coward", call them a bigot, and somehow think things will get better.
