Once you put the screws in and tighten it down the fins of the plug flare put behind the plasters it cant be pulled out without tearing out a chunk of wall. The brick anchors will flare out within the hole clamping itself against the inner wall of that hole.

Both woods are perfectly food safe and while oak isn't the best wood for food use due to its open grain structure that can trap food particles it won't be used often and its been heavily treated with food-safe mineral oil and food-grade parafin wax that plug most of those voids.
