Merely being 'offensive' isn't the problem with candidate deepfakes; it's creating something believable enough to convince voters that the deepfake is real.
I hear your concern, but given one of the items published during the election cycle of 1800 was "My opponent died so nobody can vote for him anymore" is actually a lie that was published in papers given to the voting public doesn't give me much hope that anybody in this actual day and age gives any semblance of a fuck about right versus wrong or even what the law says.
You know what'd be great? If the internet got flooded with AI porn of Trump and Musk and BiBi and Putin all having the gayest orgy ever. Like, something that would even make BDSM Daddies blush. Can't be prosecuted, right? Its free speech and it depicts adults of consenting age doing what they all love best. And doing it all for YOU, the proud supporters, wink wink kissy face.
