[Steam Frame] Landed on the waitlist, two friends as well (Europe)

Man that's rougher than I expected. 0/3, either we got really unlucky or supply vs. demand is way out of whack :(

I haven't gotten an email yet. That's a good sign, right?

I got the same email too. I signed up for the reservation pretty quick after it opened for the 1TB

It does not matter when you signed up, because it was not a queue. The way they described it, they took everyone who subscribed and shuffled the list randomly.

So the fact you're on the waiting list despite signing up early doesn't really indicate how fast it went out of reservations.

Exactly. It's explicitly not first-in-first-out. I signed up for the 1tb, got a wait-list email yesterday then got a purchasing email today.

I'm on the 1TB list too.

This must mean someone already cancelled their purchase then?

I'm surprised that they're being processsed that fast. Better not miss that e-mail.

IIRC the FAQ said you have 3 days to complete the purchase after you get the actual offer, so if people who won reservations are starting to get their purchasing emails already then hopefully the wait lists will move a little in a few days when the initial offers start timing out

No idea what happened for the previous poster to move from wait-list to offer so quick.. Maybe someone intentionally cancelled, like you said, or maybe Valve had a small reserve to avoid overselling in case there's some kind of error. Or maybe previous poster's first email actually was a reservation, and they mistook it for wait-list because I've heard the wording is a bit vague :D

I did exactly that initially.

The success email was that you are on the reserve list (Vs the waitlist), with no purchase link. That came in a separate email. I initially thought I didn't get the first batch, until I checked again later.

I too was waitlisted. I run exclusively Linux at this point though, so happy for them to get the vr experience there ironed out.

Considering a pimax dream air se but, different niche (I have a good desktop though) and I’m not sure the slam tracking is good enough and how compatible it is with Linux.

I am halfway through, I've got 2 PCs and one has been converted to linux only. I do some VR on it, but it's a struggle.

I've got a Quest 3. Steam Link / Steam VR is completely unusable for me. I am using WiVRn on linux, along with WayVR for the UI/desktop access.

It has problems on a few games but it works great on the rest (Beat Saber, Synth Riders, Walkabout Minigolf,...)

Meta's basically lost all interest in VR after they got that nobody wanted their shitty metaverse. The lack of Quest support by both steam and meta is a major reason for me to want the Frame. Especially for Linux.

I'm on the waitlist too.

Silver lining, it might be better to let others test the first batch, and maybe by the time we get ours it'll have some problems ironed out.

Exactly!

I’m looking at it as an opportunity to have more time to save money so I’m not out too much at once or paying on a credit card to not lose my reservation
