Looks like it.

Mildly offended that Scotland is included because we're quite proud of our produce.

davel@lemmy.ml · 5 pts · 1d

Should you be, though?

produce

-- as in vegetables and fruits?

abbiistabbii@piefed.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 15h

Veg, fruits, and the end products, as well as fish and meat. Scottish salmon is legendary, go to a foodie market here.

Outside of alcohol related brain damage, what vegetables come from Scotland?

Diddlydee@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 22h

Produce isn't vegetables. Scotland has world class meat & fish, and great cheeses. Their water is the best though.

I don't get it, I can figure out the bit about food and various jokes often made about food from some of those places, but what's the family thing?

Mandarbmax@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 16h (1 reply)

There is a running joke about how whenever anyone describes their culture, that culture emphasizes food and family. Hispanic, Asian, whatever. Doesn't matter what culture you are talking about, basically all of them do it. Joking about how "no actually my culture hates food and family" is a sort of sarcastic subversion and implies that the person telling the joke is like an alien or something. This meme is yet a third tier of the joke because it highlights parts of europe with a reputation for bland or off-putting food and people who don't show affection obviously and implies that they actually do hate food and family, subverting the subversion.

Then OP explained it wrong because they have brain worms and are a campist.

Awesome write up. I get it now haha wish I'd seen it sooner.

It's referring to having an atomized culture where you don't have generational families.
