I have a pint of PSH snOFLECKS. I bought it because I thought it was the equivalent of a studio glaze I used a lot (Their version of Albany Slip Brown) and I thought it would be good 'basic' as I started building my collection.
I made this mug and I hate it lol. Not only is it super dense and obliterated the detail (not shown), the mechanism for the dark brown deposits is so different than Albany (discrete particles vs a more flowing variegation). Some of that is probably my kiln getting too hot too fast (still playing around with programs) and application plays a part, but I do think I need to accept it's not the same.
(Test tile because I am a nerd. 1, 2 and 3 coats as indicated)
I came across the pot on the right on social media yesterday and I love it. Not because it's closer to Albany, but because I think the concentration and relative size of the flecks are more harmonious with a pot of that size vs my small mug.
Pottery is so freaking interesting.

I think the mug looks fantastic but the handle needs a little work unless it’s just perspective.

I think the focus makes it look wonky (as in, not smooth) but the shape was an intentional choice. It is based on an (inaccurate) memory of a mug by Edith Heath, with the handle set low in the mug. I read that the design was to allow the user to hold a cigarette in the same hand more easily. Turns out that's a myth and I don't smoke anyways, but I wanted to experiment with handle shapes and see how it impacted the use of the vessel. In her design, the top of the handle curves downwards:
Her mugs are cast, not sure about the handles but the handles are not cast in place. Mine was thrown, with a pulled handle.
Turns out I posted it earlier . I don't hate the form, I just hate the glaze.

Chili bowls are goated with this texture. Bonus points if there's a Shrek ear on the side so you can hold it with one hand and it keeps your hand warm.

I have no idea of the history of the two forms and if they are related or independent but I think it's cool as hell that there is a traditional teapot form that has a similar handle:
The japanese ones tend to be a bit more Shrek like than the chinese, in case you are looking to optimize the Shrek-ness.

I think personally my favorite project was combining brown and white clay to make a teapot; It basically looked like a vanilla chocolate swirl. I guess it's not something you're recommended to do your first class lol
