Even if we all started earnestly being friendly with one another right now, Trump would be dead by the time we actually come together enough to fight back against tyranny based solely on our newfound desire to fight for the sake of our fellow Americans. Building community is important, and if we manage to do it on a large enough scale it will help prevent someone like Trump from coming around again in the future, but to fight back against Trump himself we really do need something along the lines of what this comic's joke is referencing. Long-term solutions solve future problems - to solve current problems in a timely manner, we need extreme short-term solutions. To truly make America great, we'll need both.
