I couldn't disagree more with this sentiment. I hate this doomer attitude. This sounds clichΓ© but hope is really so powerful, and I truly believe they're trying to take that away from us.

That said, I'm not stupid, I see the world and I know the potential for a lot of bad is on our horizon. And some, like climate change, is locked in. But the rest isn't.

That doesn't mean world war, or the collapse of society, and I'll keep pushing back against that as long as I can. There's a lot of bad but there's still a lot of good.

This attitude feels like psyop shit to take our hope from us. Fuck that. I'm still dreaming of a good future, in whatever limited capacity that is. It's never black and white, 100% one way. There's still joy to be found and had and held, alongside the existing pain and fear.

Hey, you're getting some really rough replies here. Not everyone is like this person and a lot of people do have capacity for reassurance, even long term. (I'm one, for instance, with my partner.)

I think it's incredibly cruel to imply your partner, who they've never met, will eventually tire and leave you. That's playing into your obvious fears, and they have no idea what your situation and partnership is.

Take care, and listen to your heart and your partner, not callous lemmy comments. β™₯️

Nah people are over zealous these days. I do it on Fridays or when I remember, whatever happens first. And I've been running arch or other rolling release distros for well over 15 years.

These days prompt injection or supply chain attacks are way more likely to pwn you than running 1week old software. (My own thoughts, idk if this is good praxis either.)

But flaming is bad and you shouldn't get that response regardless. Sorry ❀️

Sorry! I should have put it in the description, it's a Linux joke about updating Arch Linux, specifically, and that a lot of (definitely not all) trans women use it.

But funnily enough, as the comments show, everyone uses even more obscure distributions.

Or trauma, depression, etc, etc. We should really stop diagnosing people and just suggest mental health support from a professional when something is wrong.

Sincerely - a person with cptsd, who has been constantly misdiagnosed with autism and adhd by the community (I have neither, and it was harmful to think that was my problem).

The erosion of property rights over much of the last hundred years has worked to the great detriment of the poor and disadvantaged. Strengthening those rights could do much to enhance liberty and opportunity for the least well-off, and to boost economic growth and innovation in society generally.

Ok, read the whole thing. This was never once addressed. How does private property help, in any way, the poor and disadvantaged?

It never once addresses VC and funds like Blackrock mass-buying private property and forcing a predominantly rental based market to extract capital from the lower class, preventing them from ownership. Instead, it leans on zoning (??) as a primary problem in access to property.

And most egregious, it never once discusses how private property is ethical on stolen, native land. The entire US, and many other countries. (I'm not American.)

Anyways, I just really don't get it.
