You gotta do a little something, it helps.

Even if that’s making the bed or tidying up. It feels better.

Unless you have a broken reward system and it doesn't...

But what does often help, and I find myself having the same struggle, is just having some food, water and literally touching grass.

A bit of nutrients, sun and nature is surprisingly helpful when you're in this state.

Something somatic like going for a walk too.

I want to do X, but i should also do Y while X is running to make better use of my time, but in order to do Y i have to do Z, but i dont want to do Z because it makes me anxious. Oh and also Z would be easier if X was already done.

needanke@feddit.org · 19 pts · 13h

3 days later: damm, I should have done X by yesterday, but also F needs to be done every two days, and I have not done that in a week, so maybe I should start there. But that would be so much better if Y was done already. Maybe I'll just do a tiny bit of H (which is not urgent at all) and call it a day (it is 2 am).

Undiagnosed ADHD or autism or both, usually.

katiecakes@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 12 pts · 9h

Or trauma, depression, etc, etc. We should really stop diagnosing people and just suggest mental health support from a professional when something is wrong.

Sincerely - a person with cptsd, who has been constantly misdiagnosed with autism and adhd by the community (I have neither, and it was harmful to think that was my problem).

Anxiety is also possible.

Porque no los tres?

untorquer@quokk.au · 1 pts · 1h

Could be, likely even.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 40. It has made all the difference to finally treat it with medication.

ChicoSuave@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 9h

Diagnosed but unmedicated because the system is rigged against many of us.

I am in this photo and I don't like it

Are you overwhelmed? Or are you properly whelmed by things that are overhappening?

Impractical_Island@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 12h

Unresolved childhood trauma. The underlying strategy to heal yourself from this is to consciously step far outside your comfort zone from time to time so that you can perceive yourself more accurately to see what inside you is draining you whilst simultaneously recondition yourself out of these maladaptive patterns. The world traumatizes us all. We don't need to be caught in a warzone to be inflicted with just the right wound to cripple us in the most debilitating ways. The solution is to grow. Challenge yourself with a big mission that casts you out of what is familiar to find yourself better than you ever were before. And there is a smart way to do this, a lazy way to do this, and a reckless way of doing this. Balance is key.

You don't have enough spoons to carry over to the next day. Do some high visibility, low effort chores until you get enough energy to do bigger ones. Go for a walk. Get out of the place you spend all your time for a couple of hours during the time you'd normally spend there.

If that doesn't help, you might need assistance beyond what internet strangers can provide. Talk to people around you about you struggles, maybe consider therapy if that's a possibility.

You cannot rest when enemies are nearby.

You're overwhelmed because you don't do anything.
