Also recommend them to follow the office suites nagging and save future documents in Open Document Format. Because OOXML (.docx & co.) is the villain here in compatibility and formatting issues.
I intern at a security company and half of our office (including me) runs some kind of a Linux distribution. I got Ubuntu on the company-assigned computer.
At work we have been slowly pushing into Linux instead of traditional IIS/windows servers. Its SO much easier to deploy images/docker containers. Licensing is sane. The costs are slowly going down.

No, because EEE is about killing existing competing standards. OOXML came out of microsoft themselves.

Most logistics companies in my country run on browser so if it is the same in Italy it shouldn't be too hard to switch

I feel like most enterprise software has moved behind a browser because windows sucks.

Define "link". Microsoft has lots of good enterprise connectivity tooling. You lose most of that if you don't use Windows.
It doesn't mean it's a complete loss. There are benefits to moving away.
