But they are making so much money from datacentres that diverting ANY effort towards gaming is a huge loss.
And you seem to think that not producing a new gaming card means they are not doing R&D on new architecture and systems, which is not unprecedented (Intel sat on their quad core laurels way too hard and got punished for it), but I don’t think Jensen is dumb enough to sit and let a competitor take even a crumb of what’s his.

Maybe, but Nvidia’s revenue has (roughly) doubled every year since 2023. And their market cap has jumped from $0.5b to $4.5b
Gamers are not entitled to new hardware. And at this point gaming is not even a half decent investment for any chip, memory or storage company.
Nvidia is probably the only company who is going to come out ahead from the AI bubble. And the more they invest, the more they make.
And when it’s all said and done, and they launch the 6090 with a 10% uplift after 4 years at double the price of the 5090, people will still be kicking down doors to buy one.

Which is funny because EVs are easier to get right than ICE vehicles and China had already been making the latter (although fairly crappy ones until recent history) for decades... And they had their first EV out, with in-house battery development, in the late 00s.

at this point idk what a 60-series gpu would even be needed for. Even a 50-series just seems like overkill for most games

Unreal engine 6 is coming out soon and I bet it'll be even more demanding than 5
But honestly, even when it comes to triple A games, my backlog is so big I don't care. And when I run out of those, my 3060 ti will play just about any indies still.
