I have a 13-year-old window unit AC in my bedroom that I run every night when I go to sleep for that very reason. It's loud and kind of obnoxious but in a sort of staticy way. It's basically just a giant white noise generator that uses way too much electricity and makes my room way too fucking cold. Which I like. And why most people like hotel room, air conditioners I suppose.

The sensation of hotel AC, especially if it's an older system that needs maintenance
