I've also been having some issues today connecting to @midwest.social. I was able to browse earlier today, but now cannot connect directly. I suspect it's something server side with DNS, or its a load issue from too many users.
The domain midwestern.social does not exist in public DNS. See https://intodns.com/midwestern.social
That might be a temporary issue, but without resolution nothing else is going to work.

Shows up where? If you mean locally, it should be instant.

Ah, well it still isn't showing up on lemmy.one , I mean my lotr rings one also took a while to show up but not this long

Paste the url into the search bar of your instance. It should show up after a short query.
