What is the best way to post videos on Lemmy?

We can only post images on Lemmy without using external services. What hosting service should I use? It should be open source and run by donations, ideally.

Honestly hard to find a instance for it that isnt just some random school or something.

It's not easy, I know. Hosting a platform for video costs loads or resources (and cash), as those videos aren't usually to compact. (plus the chance that copyright issues might pop-up)

I guess that's the main reason there aren't to many peertube instances.

For big videos I use Peertube and smaller ones I use Mastodon. Pixelfed works also for small vids, but not all instances support mp4.

I think you can use catbox.moe and share the link in the URL portion in your post submission page.

With pretty much anything that allows direct linking to a video file. Also, test.
