your cat does this because they hate when their whiskers get bent back. they get claustrophobic and just refuse to eat like that. top off the bowl for them
Apparently I have well mannered cats....BUT mine will bite the shit out of my SO for feeding time. Starts with a nibble, increases the pressure to desired effect. He no bite me though 🤷 thas my dude 😏

Not mine, I gave up on bowls and gave them food in a plate, no place to.touch the whiskers... still cry with a plate full.
