I am officially diagnosed with ADHD combined type! After waiting so long for my appointment and feeling so anxious that I was somehow wrong about it, it's a huge relief. I get to try medication and looking forward to the bonus weightloss that comes from it lol

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 2y

hugs and good luck

Electronic_Owl@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

bonus weightloss that comes from it

I'm on day 3 of starting my meds and I feel like the loss of appetite is real. Like, I used to forget to eat at regular times because of the ADHD, now I'm not eating that much because of the ADHD meds. I could barely finish half of my dinner last night and as of 1pm today I've had half a banana.

MisssDarylC@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y

Oh damn, it really is hitting you hard. For me it hasn't been too bad overall, my appetite seemed to not be too impacted, but I'm wondering if it's the low dose I've started on.

TinyBreak@aussie.zone · 13 pts · 2y

god that was weird, I had to call Daycare back about something. I called and introduced myself with full name. They go "Who sorry?" I repeat, a few seconds of silence and I go "I'm X's Dad" "Ooooooh, X's dad, hang on a second I'll find who called you". I think its the first time I've said I'm someone's dad out loud. it has a very sobering effect.

There was a cat sitting on the side fence yowling during the night. Mr Ps bedroom is that side, so he scared it off by poking the rubber chicken toy out the window and gave it a few good honks ๐Ÿ˜‚

Taleya@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y

the_procrastinata@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y

Thatโ€™s brilliant! ๐Ÿคฃ

anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

We have had problems with yowling cats, and Iโ€™m going to steal this idea and buy a rubber chicken. Genius!

::: spoiler incoming rant. Vulgar language may be used.

Yesterday I noticed that Coles flatbread has gone up a buck from $3 to $4. That's 16.66666666667c increase per wrap. It's flour and water! I only buy it because it's made fresh right before my eyes so if you're reading this Coles you can go and lick my old man's left testicle you fucking bottom dwelling scabs. Yeah I'm dirty. I hope Santa brings you a big bag of farts ya scumbags. :::

The End

I think you could get a job writing rants. That was top notch.

It's one of many talents I have.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Itโ€™s just price gouging at this point. I wish Aldi was more accessible for me.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 9 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Aldi are going to start delivering soon.

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

YES!!! The day that happens I'll no longer shop at woolies

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

I went to Aldi the other day. No cottage cheese. No alfoil. No Lactose free milk. I was forced to go to Coles unfortunately. But I do hope that when Aldi starts delivering it forces the other 2 to stop the bullshit.

dumblederp@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y (3 replies)

I get the Aldi flat bread. $2/5pc.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

We normally get lebanese bread (made that day) for $1.60 for 5 but sometimes it's nice to mix it up. I'm seriously thinking about making my own.

dumblederp@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I'm looking for something lower joule to swap out but most wraps are small or thin, or expensive, or all three. Leb bread is such an all rounder in my diet.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y

A1 bakery are the best ones.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Iโ€™m with you. Bloody Woolworths rises their homebrand soft drinks to 1.10.

Original they were about 69 or 75 cents.

Pretty soon itโ€™ll be double the original price.

Taleya@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 2y (1 reply)

cats are definitely adoring the new house. Oh that giant window facing north - not in my office, where I make noises at them for shoving everything off my workbench to sprawl, but in the dining room, where boxes and beds are placed for their use. Screen doors without modesty panels so they can breeze their whiskers and see everything and not wait for a human to put a little stool up so they can try and peep out. heating vents.

Plus now they can see the entire back yard....and they're gonna absolutely lose their shit when the corellas invade the fruit trees.

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Sounds like cat heaven

lol Perth Water. I want to meet the public servant who named that!

Nath@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y

That was probably John Septimus Roe nearly 200 years ago. He's kind of a big deal in Perth history. Major highway named after him, High school etc.

He is Perth's equivalent of John Batman, but revered more like John Monash. It's all Johns for days.

bull@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 2y (14 replies)

Hahahaha ok so I just brought my golf bag up to my apartment and I'm looking through all of the pockets to clean it out/try to find my glove (found it) but I also found something completely unexpected AND telling of how long it has been since I played golf. I found 3 old porn DVDs in the big pocket, which were my friends DVDs he asked me to hide for him (I know how this sounds but I swear it's true). This is a friend I haven't seen or spoken to for about 10 years.

Hmm my apartment building has a free public library shelf thing.. maybe I should make a donation.

Duenan@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 2y

I have to say it, an oldie, I can't resist.....suuree for a "friend".

bull@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y

Hmmm ok I'm going to say what the titles are in a spoiler because one of them might be a little.. well you'll see..

::: spoiler titles Tight & Asian 6, Lexington Steele's Black Reign & My Girlfriends Cock (yep that one is exactly what it sounds like) :::

I can't remember if he was genuinely into that last title or if it was bought as a gag gift between the boys back in the day. No pun intended.

Melbcat is fussing around giving indignant huffs. Sheโ€™s had breakfast, meds and a treat so I think itโ€™s because I wonโ€™t let her out. Accidentally letting her slip out behind me into the yard made her forget sheโ€™s an inside cat.

got a screen door that's in the sun? We placated ours by opening the sliding door and letting them breeze behind the screen in the sun

melbaboutown@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y

Unfortunately it takes until late afternoon for the sun to slant through the window and screen door. Cruelly she can even see it approaching without being able to bask.

I could drag myself through setting up her little pipe frame house and wedge the opening against the window to let her out in a controlled way but the intruder cat would come fight with her

bull@aussie.zone · 8 pts · 2y (6 replies)

Scooted myself down to a pub along the river. Cricket is on the big screen, the beer is cold and $10 a pint and they haven't played a song newer than the year 2000 yet. Life's good.

Terrible decision, absolutely shocking. I'm appalled.

Edit: are you actually trying to offend?

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (4 replies)

No but I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my new door mats I guess.

Thornburywitch@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I think the only really offensive doormats are those with picture of muscle cars on them. I can even live with a Happy Christmas or Welcome To this Hous doormats (spelling error intentional - I saw one with that exact error at Vic market once). I do like the Welcome to this Tardis ones that they sell at the comic shop on St Georges Road. And the Batman ones.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

WELCOME mats are a bit boring so when my friend said I've got some door mats for you I didn't get too excited but when I saw them I actually like them.

I sometimes see posts on social media that have such poor grammar & spelling that I can't even figure out what the person is trying to say. Then someone else will relpy as if it is perfectly understandable and I'm just staring at it wondering how on earth they managed to work it out. Is it the same superpower as understanding toddler speak, or a complete skill set on its own.

One of the more recent ones I saw a woman was talking about going shopping, and had something along the line of "git husband fine I have ordered more" and someone managed to translate that to wanting to know if she could return some items for a refund because her husband received a fine. I was just trying to figure out why she was calling her husband a git if he was fine with her shopping spree!

mysticgreg@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Oh man some of the jobs we get through our ticketing system at work from the front-line teams are like this... we can spend more time trying to work out what they're trying to say than actually working on the issue. Often our interpretations are wildly wrong too.

Also, clever of you to include a spelling mistake ('relpy') in the post, very meta - what do I win for picking it up? :D

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Any idea about this one? Altho its a bit exxy

MeanElevator@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

It's probably good but massively overpriced

Don't spent more than like $70 on a gin

Roku gin ain't half bad... Japanese

Tanquray or Bombay sapphire are nice classics, as is Gordon's (OG shit)

Gin is a fairly basic drink. It doesn't need aging and is all about the botanics.

More $$$ means more wankery

fullkitwanker@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Oooh ok! I think it's between Bombay Sapphire, Gordon's and Roku gin now.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

No worries. I drink a lot of gin. It's a really pretty bottle if you go with the first one but Gordon's is always a winner with the youngin's .Beefeater's, Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire are other popular winners.

Getting a bit toasty out there in the sun.

I've given all the new seedlings a good watering and given them some temporary shade with bamboo leaves and a few other odds and ends so they don't burn to a crisp. I even managed to move a few barrows full of soil and put out some more hard rubbish.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Since you liked that one here's another one. This is more of a caution. I'll refrain from swearing. The My Dog 24/100g cans was $24 then it went to $27. Ok no worries my little dog likes to eat. I'll pay anything for the little mutt. Last time I have a look, yellow tag says $27 locked in until Jan 2024. I look under the tag usual price $34. Bull fucking shit it's never been that price. EVER because I always look. Give yourselves a pat on the back. Your shareholders will be happy with your record break profit next financial year you greedy bastards.

Take care out there consumers. I think I'm done now.

Weed murder is soooo satisfying.
This reminds me of a cartoon I saw way back in the 70s - two hippie dressed amorphous people both leaning over a tiny weed growing through the cracks in the pavement. One asks the other 'do we smoke it or conserve it?'

A whole tin of these is only 761 kj - and that is 50% protein. Hmm... I'll need to investigate.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

There's a few flavours to choose from.

Nath@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

There were! But that chilli one sounded great. I had a lovely decadent lunch:

Verdict: delicious, but a bit too decadent. I think I'd try a flavour that wasn't oily next time. Over 2,000kj in total for lunch - but it was all in the flat bread and sardines. The rest was rounding on those two.

Force_majeure122@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I have not! I'll keep my eye out next time I'm at Aldi. I normally source my fishies elsewhere because aldi never has any in olive oil which is my preference.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Ooooo. You are in for a treat my friend. Make sure you get a bit of bread to soak up the chilli oil. Delicious.

bull@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

So my plan was to give the electric piano/keyboard whatever you call it which has been collecting dust in my apartment to my niece for her birthday. I just dusted it off and plugged it in to make sure it's all good but it's a serious bit of kit which I bought for myself for like $500 back in like 2018 I think. It might be a bit too much equipment for a 4 year old. Now I'm thinking I should just go and buy her a more kid-appropriate one like this one and hold on to this one for now. If I still have it when she's a bit older maybe she can have it then.

Nath@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I think the smaller one might be the right call for a four year old. We started on real piano sizes at six, and even then the tiny fingers couldn't really reach the keys.

bull@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Thanks for the reply, I went out and bought the little one this afternoon and I hadn't even considered her tiny fingers!

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

That was short and sweet from Maxwell. ๐Ÿฅ‡ ๐Ÿฆ†

landsharkkidd@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Last night I made a playlist for Paul McCartney's Adelaide setlist for tomorrow night, because I know maybe the 1 or 2 Wings song and some from his Egypt Station album, but that's it. I know more Beatles songs.

I'm devo that he might not play Yellow Submarine. It's my fave Beatles song (and something I want tattooed because it's more of a tattoo for my Nana who introduced me to the Beatles through it), but he did play Let It Be which is my second favourite one so not bad.

CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Not a bad score Australia. Second highest of the tournament so far.

I have got the process for an excellent iced coffee nailed. Double shot using these Aldi Lazzio Medium beans, stir through a teaspoon of sugar into the espresso, pour over ice in a cold glass and then pour milk over ice and stir. Simple and delicious.

RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Definitely a good thing to be making in this weather.

I do a Vietnamese style, with condensed milk. Looks really good in the double-walled glass mugs, with a layer of milk at the bottom and coffee on top. Makes a quite sweet drink though.

bull@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Hmmm.. I tried one once but it wasn't for me, but that was very early in my coffee drinking career so I should probably give it another whirl because they SOUND amazing. It'd need to be a "sometimes drink" though, being so sweet. I also have a childhood-fondness of condensed milk from memories of mum making rice pudding, so I need to make sure I don't overdo it with that stuff.

Anyone had eScript issues before? My doctors receptionist seems to think I'm full of it when I say I'm not recieving them. I usually grab a paper script to avoid silly issues like this, but for the last couple of times I've relented, this is my 4th script and it appears my fears have been realised.

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Yes, although in my case the eScript text arrived and then the prescription un-validated itself after 5 minutes so when I got to the chemist I was left hanging. Check if your local chemist will do Active Script List, that saved my arse when I reset my phone and lost the SMS with the prescription link and my psych was on extended leave. If you consent for them to have your details they'll be able to look up all previous and current eScripts and dispense any current ones even if you don't have the link/QR code

bananafungus@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Never heard of the Active Script List, so will definitely check that out, thank you!

Any recommendations on a service I can use that isn't paypal to send money to the USA? TorFX seems to have good reviews and no fees which is a win.

MHLoppy2@aussie.zone · 6 pts · 2y (4 replies)

I've used Wise (formerly TransferWise) for international transfers a couple of times. They use "mid market" exchange rates so tend to be on the cheaper side as far as total loss of value on a transfer (fees + exchange rate losses).

Admittedly it's been a couple of years since I last looked around at these services though!

danwritesbooks@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I'll take a look at their rates. Thanks.

just_kitten@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y

Yeah, my brother uses Wise for all transfers in/out of the US. It's a fairly popular option for larger amounts

Honestly I was pretty content with the fees involved when I used it for Euros a couple years back. Afaik the fees aren't trivial but at least they're not steep (unlike e.g., using PayPal to do the same thing) - I didn't really feel robbed but it'll depend on what your expectations are!

Seagoon_@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Western Union.

Fees are a bit high but they are very reliable and have offices all over the world

maybe also try the post office and see what services they have there
