After this I won't ever complain about English spelling system any more.

Other European languages having phonetic spellings fail miserably e.g.

  • Italian undici + due = dodici + uno
  • Spanish: once + dos = doce + uno
  • Fr*nch: onze + deux = douze + un
  • Romanian: unsprezece + doi = doisprezece + unu (almost there! only a "u" remains)

日本語:十一 + 二 = 十二 + 一

It works in japanese just fine, in large part because it's (written and phonetic) just "ten one" and "ten two"
