The US has been involved in Syria for many years, this sort of military action was par for the course last month, just like it was last year or five years ago, well before this current exacerbation of the Israel/Palestine war. My point is this is objectively not a sign of escalation

Unlikely. Iran hasn't got a lot of allies. It might team up with Russia, which would make the invasion of Ukraine the real start of WWIII.

Yep, definitely not enjoying everyone escalating things instead of telling Israel that a genocide is not the proper response to a terrorist attack.
