It's a bacteria that grows between their toe pads, it's completely normal and not something to be worried about

That smell is actually natural yeast produced by your dog.
If the smell is strong, they may have an infection and you should discuss it further with a vet
Edit to clarify: if the smell suddenly becomes much stronger than what it normally smells like*
