Comment on the top level thing and someonw will hopefully comment on yours. Just say like "Test"

Thunder wonders: is that all you've got?

otter@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 2y

For Boost it just falls off the page eventually

Eternity refuses to open the +98 comments 1000009514

eatham@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y

Thunder goes further than that, but is bugging out trying to send the image.

Beautiful 🤩

I need to start using meanwhile more often

fishos@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Connect got the same thing lol. I couldn't help because I couldn't even see the last comments.

Fine... I'll add support for this on Summit for the next update.

Oh god...

What did we do to Mastodon?!

Damn...

aeharding@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 2y (1 reply)

As Voyager developer. HODL fix incoming, the nesting must go on!!1

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

Aha, no way?! I got friends/responders in high places, feeling #Blessed

Edit: also, excellent work, Dev! I'm more into Memmy but you've created a spitting image for Apollo and you should be extremely proud of that fact! I hope that opens incredible doors for you if you're in the market for said doors or at least you're able to work on whatever kind of projects that are of your preference :)

Edit: i think i might be back in love with Voyager/Apollo. Ugh, I just don't know anymore.

BlueEther@no.lastname.nz · 24 pts · 2y (14 replies)

is it broken now?

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y (13 replies)

So what's the finding?

BlueEther@no.lastname.nz · 7 pts · 2y (12 replies)

It looks like you broke the interwebs my mate

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Did I actually do something bad? Like are y'all upset at me?

Anbalsilfer@lemmy.ml · 13 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You're a grey hat. Technical problems like these are likely to never get fixed until their consequences are demonstrated.

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

I feel like I'm def more of an IdeasGuy, like I don't implement stuff but I guess I'm good at finding edge cases/outliers.

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (8 replies)

Yes but like quantified...

BlueEther@no.lastname.nz · 3 pts · 2y (7 replies)

looks like 128 deep from here, and that number feels very familiar some how. I just cant place where Ive seen it before...

user224@lemmy.sdf.org · 5 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Hmm... I got 99. The red line is there 14 times with full color change + 1 extra line. Each time it's 7 colors, so 99. I double-checked.

BlueEther@no.lastname.nz · 11 pts · 2y (1 reply)

If in doubt look at the code:

const MAX_COMMENT_DEPTH_LIMIT: usize = 100;

I Guess that is the answer

user224@lemmy.sdf.org · 4 pts · 2y

Now, what would happen with other instances if you compiled it with higher number for your own 🤔

BlueEther@no.lastname.nz · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I think you are correct, I based it on:

Feathercrown@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Maybe there are branches in the tree of comments?

Feathercrown@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

128 = 2^7; powers of 2 show up a lot in computing. Looks like it's 100 though per the below comment.

Btw, you can edit the text of your post to say 'current bottom-level' (instead of 'top level') which is what you mean.

The result last time:

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Shhh! Lol

zero_gravitas@aussie.zone · 10 pts · 2y (5 replies)

It's open source, so you could just go find that answer in the code, right?

Also, now I think of it, couldn't you just do this with one account?

I don't mean to ruin the fun or anything 😆

Catsrules@lemmy.ml · 15 pts · 2y

You never know until you test it.

howrar@lemmy.ca · 9 pts · 2y

That's assuming there's a hard-coded limit. There very likely isn't, but things can break when you push the limits of software like this. You won't be able to easily see what those are by looking at the code.

cheese_greater@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (4 replies)

What is the conclusion/limit—like 10?

user224@lemmy.sdf.org · 5 pts · 2y (3 replies)

If I didn't get lost in the count, the color changed 14 times + 1 extra line. So 14 x 7 + 1 = 99.

99 Nested comments.
