What is our stance on mods?

I like using vanilla enhancing mods, like Sodium, Phosphor, MouseTweaks, or Xaero's Minimap. Is anyone against mods like this, especially the minimap/waypoints?

Mods are authoritarian

Mods as in moderators or mods as in modifications?

ComradeEd@lemmygrad.ml · 1 pts · 3y

Literally NKVD. Killed Banned someone for just playing the game and placing down blocks

What version does the server use? I made a Stalin mod for minecraft awhile back.

Recklessssss@lemmygrad.ml · 6 pts · 3y (1 reply)

It's 1.19.4 for now

meekah@lemmygrad.ml · 5 pts · 3y

sweet, so who's gonna install the hungry stalin mod?

moffintosh@lemmygrad.ml · 5 pts · 3y (2 replies)

A what?

Rasm635u@lemmygrad.ml · 4 pts · 3y (1 reply)

Do you plan on updating it?

CannotSleep420@lemmygrad.ml · 6 pts · 3y

I'll see. It's not high on my priorities though.

I like mods so much I literally mod my mods

Map and Minimap mods can be installed on your client and work on servers. I have Xaeros on my client and it works on my friend serve who runs vanilla.

One of the few mods I think everyone should use is the tree cutting mod that lets you choo the first block of a tree and subsequently chops all blocks above it. It takes longer to cut the block and does more DMG to the axe durability but it's still waaaaay better then having to chop each block on the tree.

meekah@lemmygrad.ml · 3 pts · 3y (2 replies)

what's the name of that mod?

201dberg@lemmygrad.ml · 3 pts · 3y (1 reply)

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/falling-tree

You can change it's settings I think. When I used it I made it take longer to chip the bigger the tree because I didn't want to feel too "cheaty." I just wanted to not have to climb up the tree and not have to hunt for a random branch log but also not make tree farming completely trivial.

sweet, that looks great, especially the 'shift mode' where it breaks the logs block by block. that, combined with a fast leaf decay mod is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks

I use similar mods too

misterslime12@lemmygrad.ml · 5 pts · 3y

Create Mod > 1.19 & 1.20

I generally like my communities to be moderated so I am personally pro mod... Oh your not talking about moderators, well then, um, I guess I have no problem with them

meekah@lemmygrad.ml · 2 pts · 3y

lol fair enough hahahah

Rasm635u@lemmygrad.ml · 5 pts · 3y (7 replies)

I use client-side mods

meekah@lemmygrad.ml · 3 pts · 3y (6 replies)

Yeah, I don't expect the admins to install any mods

ComradeEd@lemmygrad.ml · 3 pts · 3y (5 replies)

We run plugins. But not mod mods.

What about data packs? I find myself missing Bundles as i usually have that data pack enabled on my worlds.

meekah@lemmygrad.ml · 1 pts · 3y (1 reply)

from the posts here it seems like the end is available so if you have shulkers there is a client side mode to add bundle-like functionality to shulkers and the ender chest, allowing you to put items into the chests without having to place them down

edit: this mod has that feature for shulkers, but I can't find the one that adds the same for the ender chest... oh well

cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml · 1 pts · 3y

The point of Bundles is that they are an early game discount version of shulkers. Once you get shulkers you don't need bundles anymore. But shulkers are super end game. And making ender chests requires you to go to the nether which you can't do until you get diamonds. I appreciate having something in the super early game that fulfils a similar function of inventory compacting.

Data pack not texture pack

cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml · 3 pts · 3y

Imo client side mods are totally ok. This is not a competitive server after all.

ThatCakeThough@lemmygrad.ml · 1 pts · 3y (2 replies)

I would honestly run server optimization mods to make the server better.

meekah@lemmygrad.ml · 2 pts · 3y (1 reply)

yeah, that's probably a good idea, depending on how many people usually are online at peak

ThatCakeThough@lemmygrad.ml · 1 pts · 3y

There’s a GitHub page for optimization mods and their notes.
