goes hard should be on the right, seems more intuitive.

bigfish@reddthat.com · 4 pts · 2y

Anything with "higher"on the left (goes harder) just seems wrong. Arbitrary choice, sure, but it's what I'm used to.

Factorio - The search for iron. Makes you want to search for iron.

You can put Weezer anywhere on this chart and be correct.

Calibrating...

Q1: Gwar, Mick Gordon

Q2: Hotline Miami OST

Q3: Nightwish

Q4: Plantasia

BiggestBulb@kbin.social · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

That's not my connotation for Nightwish, but only because I learned of them by playing Littlebigplanet 2 haha (Whoever Owns the Night)

They slap though!

Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

I was hearing them in the 00s, and their sound had a deliciously sad vibe to my ear.

Rebels_Droppin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

I concur, nice list

Xanthrax@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y

TOOL would be EVERYWHERE.

Suicidal tendencies is definitely, want to kill yourself/ others right in the middle, and goes hard.

Melancholy and the infinite sadness by the Smashing pumpkins for wants to make you kill yourself but doesn't go hard.

Metallica, Master of puppets for goes hard, but makes you want to kill yourself.

Andrew Jackson Jihad for goes hard, and makes you want to kill other people. Mostly thinking of "fuck white peope".

Following Cartesian quadrants:

Q1: Sunn O)))

Q2: Electric Wizard

Q3: Nine Inch Nails, specifically The Fragile

Q4: Porcupine Tree - Signify

Extra credit:

Left side: King Gizzard, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown

Right side: Delicate Steve, Lemon Jelly, The Orb - The Dream

Top: I'm kinda at a loss here, I can't think of a band that makes you want to kill but has songs that both do and don't go hard.

Bottom: Steven Wilson

thiccdiccnicc@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I'd give the top of extra credit to Danny Brown or Swans

I keep cracking up at Delicate Steve being perfect for the doesn't go hard slider, though.

MossyFeathers@pawb.social · 1 pts · 2y

FUCK I can't believe I didn't think of SWANS. I love Soundtracks for the Blind.

Also Delicate Steve keeps popping into my head because of the joe cappa animation. It's such a funny video.

Rebels_Droppin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Looking forward to checking these ones out, thanks

MossyFeathers@pawb.social · 1 pts · 2y

Fyi Lemon Jelly and Delicate Steve are artists, not albums. I just realized they were listed in a way that might make you think they were albums by The Orb. Also, those three don't really make you want to kill anything tbh, but they're pretty chill and don't really go hard.

I went with using the actual image before running out of space and realizing text was better

Edit: here's more:

I ran out of motivation and didn't write anything

UnRelatedBurner@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

I'd like to submit Rick Astley - Never Gonna Stop (not to be confused with his earlier song, and def worth a listen) as slightly southwest of the center

I'm not sure where to categorize it:
Drowning Pool - Bodies

alekwithak@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Top left?

hakunawazo@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Probably, yes. But I'm not a native speaker so maybe it has some second meaning like let us cuddle on the floor.

alekwithak@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

That's an interesting take. After reviewing the lyrics I don't think so though lol

Sour Times -Portishead.

Low Key Suicidal.

Frankly, most of music sung by Beth Gibbons is borderline suicidal. Even the "happy" songs.
