I don't know if you've ever seen sushi before but typically the rice isn't on the outside.

Maybe you live inside a giant sushi, and topologically this is equivalent to the sushi encompassing the rest of the world, including raw fish.

Actually, the only qualifying factor to be sushi is for something to contain vinegared rice alongside other toppings. The rolled shape is not sushi, it's maki.
