Our instance usually waits for a day or two after other big instances upgrade, to see if there are problems.
I would mention that many of the third party apps allow instance blocking. I use Connect for Lemmy, and I've been blocking instances for months.

I've been runung most of the RC's through the 0.19.0 life and pushed the final when it was a few hours old [EDIT to correct image]

I don't entirely understand what you're saying, but I think you're saying you can't block instances yet even though you're running .19. I wonder if it's done in a different way.
