Day 70/70: Final day of week 10 weigh in:
Down a total of 8.1kg for the 10 weeks.
I was dropping roughly a kilo per week until the end of November, when there were too many parties breaking the diet. I only dropped 400g last week.
Most importantly, my running pace has improved. I managed my first 10km in under 50 minutes for the first time since my accident. More than dropping weight, this was the main purpose of the diet.
I'll try not to go too crazy with the food over the next few days, I don't want to put 8kg back on. ๐
I stopped on the way to Anglesea at the Waurn Ponds plaza because I remembered they had a shirt I wanted in stock at their Target. Got a park 1 spot away from the entrance immediately. Bought 2 shirts without waiting in any lines. Walked right up to Donut King and got 2 cinnamon donuts, no line. Drove to Anglesea and got a park immediately in front of the shops.
Hey is anyone old enough to remember when TVs had Teletext? I used to like fiddling around with it when we first got a tv with it ( I was about 10 or 12 maybe). There was a stock market page that was insanely busy.
I accidentally pressed the button and got stuck in teletext on an older TV the other week.. buggered if I could figure my way back out of those options, but itโs still there.
I remember getting stuck too! I did something which made it split screen with Teletext and couldn't fix it quickly enough for my parents liking, who were heightening my fumbling by shouting angrily ๐
My Deezer favourites playlist randomly served up Steeleye Span's "Gaudete" and "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" several times this week when I was on the road.
Just braved highpoint to grab a click and collect. That joint is chaos at the best of times. Stupidly grabbed a few more things and now I've got bulky items to carry home๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ At least I bought myself a treat: The Body Shop vanilla eau de toilette and a white musk deodorant roll on. Love those two fragrances and haven't bought anything from body shop for myself for about 30 years. I will wrap them and put under the tree as gift to myself.
First attempt at making pad see ew. I tripled the sauce recipe as I made a bigger serve, but I only needed to double it. Maths fail. This is very saucy! Will make again tho, much simpler than I expected.
Sister just sent me the pics she took. Me, hubs, niece A all sitting nice and grinning...and niece B rolling on the couch on her face with her skirt up around her ears
Psa. If you are having trouble with log ins and replies and such it's not you it's technical stuff going on. Don't make me explain in more detail because I couldn't possibly. Details are on the home page.
Of course you can! Sorry if my comment implied that you couldn't.. I was a barista for 11ish years. I drank a shit ton of coffee in all its delicious forms. People who don't drink coffee.. back then I found them to be like the way vegans are made fun of now. I never understood why people would come to the coffee shop specifically to pointedly tell me they don't drink coffee ๐ค Aforementioned caramel syrup would not last long at my house because I would just about IV that stuff! ๐๐คค
I was just watching something before about becoming professional mermaids/mermen. Yeah I'm not talking about kids parties but actually grown ups making this a career. Not sure how it works, whether you need a sponsorship or perhaps advertise KFC on your backside but it's a thing. So if you are sick of your office job you too could become half human half fish and somehow get paid for it.
I was contacted through LinkedIn by a recruiter asking if I'd be interested in becoming a full-time merman for a Queenscliff based company, but something about it seemed fishy.
I went to Costco on a rental scooter (not going near that carpark.. Costco weekend parkers are ALREADY bad enough) and every register had decent lines even 20 minutes after opening. Wasn't too painful though. Glad to have that done, was getting the last part of a xmas present. No more shopping required now, it's all leisure all the time!
Think I might pick up some of those Hard Solos on my way back from my drive today and give them a whirl later on. I hear they're pretty decent and taste just like regular Solo.
That's the one which is the most popular drink in Japan or something right? I might grab one to try too. I think I remember someone saying they were underwhelming though.
Times like these I'm glad our family never did xmas. A relative in the 'Rat has invited me this year though so I got something for the little kiddo months ago... nobody else gets anything though.
I've got to bring a fancy salad though, and I almost never make them. And it has to be disassembled so it can survive a 2hr drive tomorrow afternoon to be reassembled on the other end.
I will have to steel myself and tackle the fancy grocery today.
Fancy salad is very similar to a normal everyday salad but with pomegranite seeds and possibly some sort of fancy cheese. Or I might be out of date and there is a new definition of fancy this year.
If you go back in time you will find a fancy salad involves jelly. Hopefully this is one trend that will never repeat.
That's funny because I was thinking if you want a pretty salad you just add pomegranate seeds but they're not in season. Couldn't think of anything else that would make it fancy. Haha.
Orange can be fancy, but you need to make sure each segment is peeled with no white bits. Which is either incredibly fiddly or requires a soak in a pectin disolving enzyme.
My cousin sent me recipes of pear and walnut type things and honestly even that is too much for me. I don't even eat basic tomato and lettuce salad. I eat lots of veg, just can't be bothered making salads... I can't "think salad".
This is too hard. I'm going to change tack and suggest some top notch broccolini or green beans with a tasteful sprinkling of garlic infused olive oil and sumac and stuff like that. Maybe my aunt's excellent julienned-cabbage stir fry that makes a great side even if it's cold.
Okay, I found a solution to my salad drama. Fennel!!! I freaking love the stuff - if it's roasted, usually, but maybe I can try shaving it very finely... For about 10 months of the year I forget it exists... got some green apple, pea shoots, arugula, Victorian walnuts, have a carrot and if I can find some raisins I'll chuck them in for colour. Amazingly, the fancy grocer had no oranges of any kind, so I've grabbed a lemon for acidity. That should do it, I hope!
I'm going to attempt to jump-start my new years resolution of spending less time on devices and more time with my hands so I'm going to start off by attempting to do honey roasted walnuts.
I also bought a shittonne of green beans as a backup so I am going to painstakingly start cutting them and prepping that now as a light and mildly curried side dish.
Hmmm. Maybe something to try next time... Just finished making the "curry" (really just steam cooked with slow cooked onions and cinnamon quills in oil, and a dash of turmeric and coriander powder). It's a fusion xmas since the olds are gonna want some rice and curry so that's my backup contribution.
I had a bit of raw fennel before I chucked one bulb in thr oven (also as a backup for the raw one) and it was surprisingly light in that dreaded aniseed flavour. Thanks, fancy grocer
There are seven meals a day. After providing them with second breakfast, in three hours you will serve elevenses, followed by luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper.
::: spoiler spoiler
While this varies between cats some of them are very happy to snack on small amounts of cooked vegies. Steamed broccoli, carrots, pumpkin, green beans and peas are all well liked by Melbcat.
Adding extra fluid like hot water to wet food, more wet feeds over dry food, and switching to grain free can also help. Plus licky mats, slow feeders and food puzzles
:::
The trickiest bit is that I have 2 and one requires prescription food. Keeping them out of each others stuff in a house without many doors is a pain. Some success with puzzle balls, but they arenโt complicated enough!
Fortune cookie says: "Rather than wonder who put bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp, be the one who puts the ram in the rama lama ding dong. Lucky numbers are 13 11 66"
The year is 2024. The world's food vendors issue a press release indicating that pickles will no longer be included by default inside burgers. How do you react?
This is another example of shrinkflation isn't it? I bet they're not reducing the price, just taking away our pickles!
Or wait, did you mean the default will no longer be inside the burgers, so you can grab them easier to try to stick them to the roof? That seems like a brilliant idea!
A much needed nap was had.
Last of the items in the vicinity of The Incident in the washing machine, and a good whack of earlier loads that I hung out nice and dry.
Now gathering the energy to put together the new vacuum and giving the place a good clean.
Just dropped off the last of the Christmas choccies except for the ones I'm taking on Christmas Day.
Didn't get much sleep last night (finally dropped off at 1 and Sammi poked me awake at something after 4) so hopefully a nap before I tackle the cleaning. Meanwhile I've washed everything in the vicinity that was on the couch (I had a lot of washing ready to be folded and put away, dammit) and most of it is on the line, so that's done.
For those of you braving the shops, may the odds be in your favour.
Someone recommended something from somewhere in Anglesea to me a while ago but I can't remember who, what or where. Maybe a pie? Or something sweet? It's frustrating. Thinking about going for a drive out that way today mostly to get a few hours of audiobook in but also just to be out and about.
Went to the bakery today for fresh bread this morning only to get what is clearly yesterdays bread - a soft French stick. Shitty overpriced bakery - should have gone to woollies, and thatโs sad.
(Eating prawns and cheese with soft French stick โน๏ธ )

Survived a social day. In reviewing today's play I can only see 1 overreaction and maybe 2-3 oversharing moments.
No anxiety though which is amazing. And didn't cause a scene (mind you, i generally tend to avoid those). Bloody exhausted though.

I was there 3000 years ago when the interwebs was just starting
and trolls were seen as trouble makers who would post to get people riled up and arguing . They thought it was fun and they liked to disrupt.
Now legacy newspapers and tv are trolls, posting bait to rile people up to get hits. They don't even believe half the shit they post.
It's not good enough, we deserve better.
Choose your news sources carefully.

If you wanted any tips -
::: spoiler spoiler While this varies between cats some of them are very happy to snack on small amounts of cooked vegies. Steamed broccoli, carrots, pumpkin, green beans and peas are all well liked by Melbcat.
Adding extra fluid like hot water to wet food, more wet feeds over dry food, and switching to grain free can also help. Plus licky mats, slow feeders and food puzzles :::

The trickiest bit is that I have 2 and one requires prescription food. Keeping them out of each others stuff in a house without many doors is a pain. Some success with puzzle balls, but they arenโt complicated enough!

Oh yeah that would be tough

I don't usually partake but I was up until 4:30 so 1 bucket of flat white please, with 1 sugar. And a fortune cookie.

Water chestnuts! That's perfect because I've been wondering what to make for lunch and you reminded me I have a tin sitting around.

I was right. My wrapped presents look like eldritch mysteries unto God.
On the bright side, this means no one is going to have a clue what they are until they unwrap themโฆ

The year is 2024. The world's food vendors issue a press release indicating that pickles will no longer be included by default inside burgers. How do you react?
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y
With shock. Who's still buying hamburgers in this economy?
Pilk@aussie.zone · 4 pts · 2y
Imagine you're in the 1% not reliant on gruel by that time.
CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y
Hmm. Then I'd pay the extra for pickles because I'd be rich.
PeelerSheila@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 2y
It's my guilty treat of dubious quality, to be indulged occasionally without Mr P ๐คซ
RustyRaven@aussie.zone · 3 pts · 2y
This is another example of shrinkflation isn't it? I bet they're not reducing the price, just taking away our pickles!
Or wait, did you mean the default will no longer be inside the burgers, so you can grab them easier to try to stick them to the roof? That seems like a brilliant idea!
Pilk@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y
It's to streamline pickle racing down the play area windows

I continue to make my own burgers with pickles.

A much needed nap was had.
Last of the items in the vicinity of The Incident in the washing machine, and a good whack of earlier loads that I hung out nice and dry.
Now gathering the energy to put together the new vacuum and giving the place a good clean.

Browsing YT, saw an ad for vid from some self help/psych type guy. He was talking about finding your special purpose in life.
