I mentioned this elsewhere but we consider linking to posts/comments with the intent of directing traffic to "bad" behavior to be brigading and is very much against our rules. The only reason I cited the example I did is because it is something explicitly permitted. We're not trying to create drama or lob false accusations.

Ultimately we are a small team running a small instance, and we have to be selective about what responsibilities we take on. And as I've been repeating, it ONLY affects users here and we don't have a local only community to post this to (though maybe we should 😛)

We consider linking to posts with a (spoken or unspoken) intent of "shaming" someone else to be bridading, and just to be crystal clear doing so is against our rules and anyone doing it will be banned.

Just because we do not want to host content from another instance, does not mean they deserve to be attacked. They have a right to operate their communities however they please (as do all instances in the Federation).

Sorry we do not allow linking to other instances in an attempt to shame them or otherwise encourage bridading. I removed your comment but I can put it back if you take out the link.

This change only affects StarTrek.website users, you are on a different instance so nothing for you will change.

You specifically are not wanted because our sensors detected you were carrying a briefcase labeled "bribe money" that was actually full of borg nanites.

There are definitely some weird people who want the clout of owning a "popular" instance, but mark my words they will flame out soon enough if popularity is the root of their desire. Instance management is a lot of tedious work and if you don't have a passion for facilitating conversation and connecting people you're not going to last. This isn't Reddit where a powermod can just sit there and do the bare minimum for free.

Instance admin here, this is backwards. Instance costs increase with the number of users because we don't sell ads. The only people we want signing up for accounts on our instance are people who are excited to be there, and intend to bring their singular wit and conversational A-game.
