As far as I know, it was mostly about not creating confusion about who is the host and who is the peripheral device.
By limiting female connections only to hosts and male connections only to peripherals, there can never be a situation where you get host/host or peripheral/peripheral.
This still begs the question: why not allow extension cables? And it seems that they don't explain anything past the roles issue.
I have turned multiple hyperfixations into useful things and even jobs.
For me it is about guiding it to a positive direction but also accepting that sometimes I will go down a rabbit hole that will cost me, and that's okay. Kind of like going out for junk food, don't make it a habit, but don't feel bad for indulging sometimes.

So, while some places take it to a ridiculous extreme and act as if parents are just completely free of any duties, I do think that generally workers who have children, especially small children, should get certain benefits and have more relaxed hours to give them the space to be proper parents.
Of course in an ideal society all of us would have a significant amount of free time and we wouldn't need to bother with making any special treatment for parents because we would all have the time we need to do the things we want and if those things are being parents then parents will have the time to both be parents and also do some of the other things they want. After being unemployed for 1.5 years (on purpose, I am privileged enough and accepting that) I can confidently say that the ideal lifestyle is one of very light and relaxed goals that keep you motivated and mentally/physically challenging, while being chill enough to give you all the room you need to be a good old monkey that likea to be lazy in a comfy bed and eat tasty food.
We are not built to be efficient and productive, but we are also not built to do nothing, we are built to be just challenged enough to be stimulated and to develop, while having the time to be relaxed and spontaneous.
The balance is individualistic, but I hope that one day our society will aim for that balance as both an individual and a societal goal.
