I can't answer this, but I do have a question: Which RPG system have you looked at? Destiny (MW:D) or Time of War (ToW)?

A friend of mine and I were looking, and it appears ToW is 4th edition and MWD is 5th edition of the RPG. However, ToW is still supported -- a new print was just released by Catalyst last year, even though the original print was more than decade ago. MWD was released in 2019.

I'm running a Destiny game, and it's a lot of fun. But there's a lot of crunch missing that might be available in TOW.

Edit: I just saw the age of this (how did I miss it?) and your post in RPG. Yeah sounds like you'd like Destiny. Really unique system not too obsessed with crunch.

Just saw a WAVE of bot art flow down the "Top New" feed. It then promptly stopped. And then when I reloaded the page, it was gone. So I think it's working...

I mean I used Ubuntu as my go-to Linux for like 12 years. Still think it's a great OS. But since then I've moved to either NixOS or Debian.

Agree with the above advice mostly. I've only been painting a few months myself, so maybe some newbie advise for another newbie...

I like handles, and I don't think you should be using the toothpick method until you feel really familiar with handling your mechs, including the act of cutting them off the base and then re-attaching them later. Handles let you securely hold your model and move it without really much thought.

Also, basing is a great addition, but not super important at first. Eventually it will bug you. I like the superglue-baking soda method. Easy, high-quality texture for your soil.

As for scheme, I like the base-color-and-then-highlight-panels-in-a-pattern method. I found painting Mechs is really hard because of the creativity involved. There's no hair or pants or cloth wrinkles to take up all your time... So you gotta think outside the box a bit. I saw someone who did object-source-lighting for an Awesome on the BT Reddit that blew my mind the other day.

Additionally, YouTube is your friend. There's a video for everything.

Regular. Yeah I've NEVER hit anything like that before. My only guess is something in one of the kernel patches ran into my hardware and my hardware nope'd out.

I always enjoyed NixOS, but then I got some CRAZY hardware issues. Like my monitor wouldn't turn on crazy even though it'd be working fine for a while.

I just bought a bunch of these from Reaper and have been painting them. They’re handy in a pinch. I also recommend.

Edit: I bought one aero fighter though and it’s huge and won’t take primer well for some reason. Might still work but not quite as good a solution.

Also, I’m going to try out their infantry too. Will update as I can.
