Again, great points and thank you! I have not talked to the player yet; I wanted to have some suggestions first.

I think I'll skip the Devine Fury replacement and propose the magic axe and interpose feature. I believe it makes for more interesting combat scenarios than just "keep smashing untill they stop moving".

(2) As the power level increases, consider treating your party as 1-3 levels above their actual level for the purpose of balancing encounters.

This is a good one! Will remember this with future encounters.

Thanks for your well thought out answer! You brought up some good points and I really like the "being a human shield" angle and I might just use it all together!

To answer your first question: at first it would be an extra subclass feat. But having an extra bonus on top of the rage damage bonus and the extra "1d6 + half of barbarian level" would be a bit too much bonus damage.

Today at work I came up with a different approach: the Devine Fury feature will be replaced with the bonus damage on missing health. It would follow a table with hard set tresholds. Something like the cantrip intervals:

  • At third level, gain an extra 1d4 damage at 50% health or an extra 1d6 damage at 25% health.
  • At fifth level, a 1d6 @ 50% and a 1d8 @ 25%.
  • etc

What are your thoughts on this? I think it feels a bit better balancing wise, but the bonus difference between the tresholds does seem a bit flat: being at 25% health and only getting 2 potentional damage more is not that great of a tradeoff.

If they have a keyboard and are into turn-based role playing games then I can recommend Caves of Qud. It has a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it starts to open up and it's just incredible!

Looks like a Stalker, next thing he'll do is whip out his artifact!

From what I can remember, and I might misremember some tiny stuffs; the chaos god Slaanesh was already kinda forming in the warp. At some point these space elves just got so bored with their lives, as they were very well off, they started to engage in these steadily worsening acts of sex, torture, mutilation etc; they even let it be done to themselves for, you know, a change of pace.

This sudden influx of chaotic energy caused by these deviant acts on an interstellar scale gave Slaanesh such a growthspurt that it instantly got pushed to creation, creating a violent warp/psychic explosion. As the space elves essentially "created" the chaos god they all suffered from this explosion, causing instant death. Only the elves in the webway where spared.

So actually, only a handful of Eldar as a race remain. I think the Dark Eldar learned their lesson now not to over indulge?

Thats a Dark Eldar, or Drukhari. You know, the space elves that went so incredibly, interstellar, ballistic with sex and torture that they, uknowingly, created the chaos god Slaanesh which started with this big ass psychic explosion that killed a lot of Eldars. And i mean a lot!

Or if that's your thing, go ahead!

Maybe I should consider one with an external power supply. For now it would be only a 2.4ghz keyboard and mice and a orb weaver gamepad, but I would like to connect a wireless controller too in the long run.

Thanks for the advice!

I found a 4-in-1 usb hub from Anker with the warning that wireless devices may not function properly, so thats what made me think it might be an issue.

The razer deatheradder v2 x hyperspeed I use does have some issues when the dongle is in the back of the pc though, but that might just be a "Razer" thing...

Never heard of the usb 2.0 thing though, thanks for the info!
