Couch (split screen) co-op, and people can do their own things and team up to take down the bosses.

You set a time in the app that you'd want to share for, and others can either view in an app - else they can watch via a unique web link on any platform.
I remember linking a couple together with a data cable and having tournaments.
And, coming from playing in those days, "infinite rotate" and "hold" just seem like cheats to those of us that were forged in the fire of head to head battle ;)
